To All Staff,

COVID-19 cases occurring in Allegheny County are on the rise. These rising numbers, as well as the start of cold and flu season, continue to put our individuals at risk.

All current COVID precautions remain in place. This includes wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, checking temperatures and disinfecting frequently. Visitors within our residential homes are still restricted. In addition to limiting visitors into the homes, our individuals are not to visit other houses. Furthermore, outings in the community that require interaction with others should be limited.

We are now entering week 30 of restrictions in our homes and lives. There have been no cases of COVID-19 reported in any of our houses. This is a direct result of the efforts of the NFHCS staff in cooperation with the efforts of the NFHCS individuals to fight the virus. Thank you for all your hard work. Let’s continue to move forward so that everyone can remain safe and healthy.

Per new recommendations from the Pennsylvania Health department masks are required to be worn whenever staff is on the worksite or during the entirety of the service provision. Masks are to be worn at all times, not just when interacting with the individual.

If you are transporting an individual in a vehicle staff must wear a mask, the individual should be encouraged to also wear a mask.

Please reference ODP Announcement 20-087

On July 7, 2020 the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) released guidance that staff who provide direct services are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth during the entirety of service provision. ODP intends to respond to mask-related inquires and situations on a case-by-case basis. Education and technical assistance will be the primary means to ensure that masks are worn during service provision. Substantial or ongoing failure to ensure that staff wear masks during service provision may result in an administrative action or sanction by ODP. ODP may release additional guidance on mask use as needed if frequently occurring situations present.

Due to the continued rise in COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County we are continuing/updating our infection control policies. These practices are based on recommendations from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Allegheny County health Department, Pennsylvania ODP and Not Forgotten procedures.
